There is no such thing as a perfect home. I didn’t grow up in one, my children didn’t grow up in one. But who needs perfect? It’s just a fact that life is made up of mistakes. However. They say it’s not polite to stare. But I couldn’t take my eyes off them.
There was a low cloud cover that morning and the air smelled of a coming rain shower. Moving into my parking spot, I started to roll up the windows when a slight movement nearby caught my attention. I glanced out the side window to see a young woman exit a nondescript building and begin following the sidewalk around the facility. I recognized it as being a crisis center. Looped through her fingers was the drawstring of a half-full white plastic garbage bag. I suspected it’s contents to be a change of clothes and a few small essentials. Trailing behind her like little ducklings were several small children all under the age of about five, each carrying a little backpack most likely filled with all they owned at that moment.
